Jake grew up in Rich Hill, Missouri; Iola, Kansas; and on a farm near Summerville, Missouri. By 1917 he was working as a mechanic in Blackwell, Oklahoma and in 1920 he moved to Bartlesville, Washington County, Oklahoma along with his two brothers, Joe and Bill. His first job was with the Studebaker agency, Ethen Motors. From there he went to the FVO Body Shop in 1924 and the following year, 1925 Jake joined his brother, Joe, at the Dodge dealership, Walsh Motors in Bartlesville. During the great depression that started one month following his marriage to Louise, he opened his own repair business in the driveway of the family home at 903 S. Armstrong in Bartlesville. Business grew and work was taken to 505 S. Osage in Bartlesville where the name became Dodge Service Garage. By 1940 he had acquired the dealership for International Harvester - McCormick-Deering and the business then became known as Forsbach Motor Company. Jake sold his business in the summer of 1950 and retired. He was a longtime member of the Bartlesville Rotary Club and a 32* Mason. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but was especially proud of the bowling tournaments his team won.
His grave marker gives his name as "Jake A. Forsbach"

LDS FHL Film # 1184296 Civil Register of Bensberg, birth. Joseph Forsbach, his wife and family members were enumerated in two US Census records for Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania: 1910 and 1920. In the 1910 Census the children living at home were: (1) Joseph, Jr., about 18 years of age, (2) Katie, about 16 years of age, (3) Peter, about 14 years of age, (4) Margaret, about 12 years of age, and (5) Lora, about 9 years of age.
In the 1920 US Census Katie and Margaret were no longer living with the family. Those enumerated along with Joseph Forsbach, Sr. and his wife, Ellen Clancy Forsbach were: (1) Joseph, Jr., about 27 years of age (2) Peter, about 23 years of age, and (3) Lora, about age 20.
A Coroner's Transcript has been located indicating Joseph Forsbach was one of four witnesses to the death of a man killed in a cave-in at Mine number Five operated by Stalter & Essex and owned by C.& H.C.& I. Co. on 12 Oct 1889 in Perry County, Ohio.
