were served and all reported "a lovely time" as they departed for home at the midnight hour

Granddaugher Connie Neufeld reports: Her friends called her Minnie, her children called her "Mombee." She had lots of friends - I remember her talking wtih them on the phone - going to dances with them and playing cards. Her children were
devoted to her. She took care of me from 1935-1945. She was strict with me and I knew not to disobey - good life training.
Connie reports Minnie was once Catholic. She became angry when the priest told her her boys were going to hell because they spent their pennies on candy instead of putting it in the church offering. She left the Catholic Church then and was
not known to church-going until after her fifth marriage to Will Jenson. She then professed her faith in Jesus and attended church with him.

From Iola Daily Register, September 27, 1899:
Mr. Jacob Herter who died Monday at his home in Iola was buried today by the Modern Woodmen, of which lodge he was a member. Mr. Herter came to Iola about a year ago from Nevada, MO, and went to work as a potter at the Nicholson smelter. Last
March he was taken sick and has been slowly sinking ever since in spite of all the doctors could do for him, the long struggle ending Monday. He leaves a wife, three sons, who work at the Iola smelters, and two married daughters, residing in
Rich Hill, MO, to mourn his loss. He was a man of about 50 years of age and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. Two representatives of the Woodmen Lodge at Nevada came over with handsome floral offerings and participated in the
impressive ceremonies.
