Lee committed suicide by shooting himself in the forehead in the basement of his home. His wife, Barbara was not home at the time but found him later. No suicide note found, but there was evidence that he had prepared for his death. He wrote a list of people to contact: insurance, lawn maintenance, etc. He did have cancer, basal cell carcinoma, over his right eye plus a wound on his ankle that never healed. The cancer could have been taken care of but he had rejected the advice of his doctors. By the time of his death, he would have needed to have his eye removed which he refused. Prior to his death, he had stopped going to all doctors and there WAS concern that he had given up. Others viewed it as cowardly and was an awful thing to put Barbara through. He did make sure his affairs were in order.

Leo/Leon's original name was Szeszycki but am not sure that is the correct spelling. I THINK I found his father, Simon, is in the 1892 Chicago Voters Registration (provided by Ancestry.com). Per "City Directories" mailing list hosted by Rootsweb.com, the 1900 directory has Dora Szeszycki (his mother) listed as widow of Simon. At the Polish Genealogical Society-Chicago website, I found a marriage record for Theodora Szeszycki to Frank Ramski in 1904 at St. Adalbert Church, Chicago. The 1920 Census, has Leon listed as Sceski with his older brother, Joseph, as head-of-household and Frank Ramsky as step-father and widower, all living at 2426 W. 34th Place, Chicago. Therefore, it is assumed that Dora died prior to that census. A death certificate has not yet been found.
